Perfect Grade Wing Zero

IT'S COMPLETED!!! After a month of building and creating and toiling over pieces of plastic the Wing Zero is DONE! It took a lot of flat coat and a lot of patience. Though for all the headaches it caused I'm sure enjoying it now. Expect more pictures in the future.

While at New England Comics yesterday, I picked up this HG model kit from Gundam SEED MSV series of models. It was a fairly easy kit and I decided not to paint it due to the fact that I bought it merely to fill up another place on my shelf. The detailing is decent and it's an interesting design. Well the Perfect Grade Wing Zero is nearing completion. What a model that was, pictures to follow soon. So I've decided to do a couple of inexpensive HGs. The project names are Astray Black Frame and Strike Freedom Crimson. Should be a good time.

Gundam Seed Review

Just finished the original Gundam Seed a few nights ago. Hooray for youtube. All I can say is see it for yourself. There's so much character development that it's nearly impossible not to get into the story. It moves slow in the beginning but by episode 25 it takes off. The mecha designs are very cool but can get a little cheesy-Calamity, Forbidden, and Raider are reminescent of G-Gundam. All in all completely something worth checking out. I give it an A. Expect a review of Seed Destiny in the future.

Well about a month ago I got the Perfect Grade Wing Zero. The reason why I haven't posted about it is because if my girlfriend found out about it, she'd know I also got her an engagement ring, so I kept it a well guarded secret. Expect pictures in the future of this wicked cool kit.

Gundam Seed Astray

As many of you know, I've gotten into the Gundam Seed sagas. My first venture was the Astray Manga. I absolutely love it. As far as I know there are 4 parts to the manga: Astray, Astray R, Astray B, and Astray X. So far Astray B and X have not been released yet. Be on the lookout though. The manga acts as a supplement to the series and clears up some things that viewers may be wondering about such as SPOILER!!!!- how Kira survives the blast of the Aegis and is brought to PLANT. If you go to youtube (as many of you know I love), and search for Gundam Seed Astray MSV, you'll be sure to find some cool videos that were released in Japan just to get your mouths salivating.

The Long Wait

Well the long wait is over and I can finally post again. The reason why I haven't been is because I've had a few things I've had to keep under wraps. One of those is that I was planning to ask my girlfriend of nearly two years to marry me. Yup the beginning of the end, or rather the beginning to the beginning...yeah, that's more appropriate. Well here are some pictures of the ring the ring and the gorgeous girl who will be mine in two short years. Enjoy. Robotech: The Macross Saga

Well on Friday I picked up the first twelve episodes of Robotech: The Macross Saga. I must say this is really good. This story reminds me of the new Battlestar: Galactica series (which is also very good). The animation is of course old school but hey, that's half the entertainment. The voice acting is better than some animes of today that are brought over. This is definately recommended. What would be interesting is a remake and dub the old voices over it, but the classic animation is part of the charm. I also realized that I used to watch this when I was just a wee lad. Just a walk down memory lane I suppose.

The Gundam Craze

Well the Gundam craze is sweeping the halls of ENC. I've gotten a lot of my friends into the anime, some of which don't even like the genre. And on top of that I've got guys building the models as well. Just goes to show you that Gundam is contagious.

I'm sure a lot of anime fans out there buy most of their anime online. It's cheaper and it's easier to find exactly what you want. But all too often shipping is as much as the anime itself! Well if any of you are in college, you know all about Half.com. But they're more than just cheap books. They've got cheap anime too! How cheap you say? Try 30 friggin dollars for Evangelion, BRAND NEW!!! And the shipping is media mail priced through the good ol' US Postal Service. Not to mention plenty of Gundam, Cowboy Bebop, and of course Ghost in the Shell. Why Half.com doesn't advertise that there are these great deals is beyond me, but heck, let's take advantage of it.

P.S.-they didn't pay me to do this, I'm not that lucky.

Evangelion Movies

So after being greatly confused by the last two episodes of Evangelion, I decided to take a gander at Death & Rebirth and End of Evangelion. The first thing that I can say is that Death & Rebirth is pretty much a waste of money. It basically sums up everything that happened in the series followed up by like 20 minutes of new footage. The thing is, that new footage is seen in End of Evangelion. So just skip Death & Rebirth if you're still relatively fresh from the series.

On to End of Evangelion. Now at first, you think that the ending is going to be a normal one, well as normal as an anime usually is. But you soon find that's not true. While the ending does leave you with an easier to follow ending, you still find yourself saying, "what the heck did I just see?" I won't say the ending but it is quite a doozy. The thing I find most funny about this End of Evangelion is the reason why it was made. People got all mad and sent the writer of the series death threats. Now. If you really want the guy who wrote the anime that you're way too obsessed with to give you a spoonfed ending, should you really threaten his life? Just a thought

I'm sure a lot of you out there know about youtube.com. But maybe you didn't know that you can watch Gundam on YouTube. Yeah the quality isn't that great, but we don't exactly have the Seed Destiny series on this side of the ocean yet. There's also installments of Gundam Evolve, which Gundam fans know is pretty much impossible to find in the US. So check it out. It'll be worth it.

The 08th MS Team: Miller's Report

I just finished this little movie. The first thing is that there's very little original footage here. But it does wrap up Shiro's trial quite nicely. I probably would rent this one. There's really not anything special about the movie.

The cool thing about this DVD was the PS2 footage. All kinds of cool animation. Rent it and enjoy

Full Metal Panic

I just finished the first episode of Full Metal Panic. From what I can tell it's an action comedy. Works pretty well. The main character is a little empty-headed and lacks social skills but so far it's a pretty entertaining personality. The mecha-design is what caught my eye the most. It's kind of like Escaflowne meets Gundam, way cool. I'm looking forward to what's in store with Panic. Stay tuned!!!

Gundam Seed Destiny

I just finished watching the first episode of Gundam Seed Destiny. Wow. This new Gundam is pretty good. I was wary at first. Most of the Gundam side stories just plain suck, but this one started off well indeed. The animation is top-notch, we should expect nothing less, and the Gundam design is jaw-dropping. The story is setting up for quite a conflict which means a lot of action and drama. Check this out.

RX-79 [G] Spec Ops

I've been wanting to post about this guy since I finished. As you can the RX-79 [G], a mass production suit from the One Year War which made its debut in The 08th MS Team, has been painted a little something different. I went with the color scheme from the RX-93 from Char's Counterattack. The black gives the Gundam a Spec Ops look and feel. By far this is the best looking model I've built. The pictures look great. It had just finished raining up here in good ol' Quincy, Mass and the lighting was unique. So anyway enjoy the pics!

Ghost in the Shell

My room mate and I just finished the Ghost in the Shell movie. I have to admit that it wasn't as great as what I've heard. The animation and art word was top notch but the dialogue lacked thought. The plot didn't have the substance that you find in most full-length anime movies. I found it hard to get into the Ghost in the Shell. Although, it is one of those must-see animes. If for the only reason being to say that you've seen it.

Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory

After watching 0083, I was both shocked and awed. By far this is the best Gundam series to be released, next to the original of course. The mature dialogue combined with very mature themes makes this Gundam installment worth while. The characters are complex, except for Monsha who annoyed me to no end, and they're relationships even more complex. The plot takes you through a roller coaster ride of emotions from happiness and joy to downright hateful anger. The final scenes are so well done that you find yourself wanting to see more action from the audacious machines that kept you on the edge of you seat for two straigh episodes.

The Gundam designs are top notch without going over the top (see link below for the GP01). As with all Universal Century sagas, there is a science involved in the Gundams, which aids in adding realism. Animation is very well done and the colors are vibrant and full.

In all a well done Gundam and a well done anime. Review factor is very high. 9 out of 10, by far.

This model was my first MG kit and I picked it up for 20 bucks including the shipping from Amazon.com. I enjoyed it a lot and actually flew through the initial build at 6 hrs. But it ended up taking me a month to fully complete with inking and then flat coating the entire thing. If anyone buys one of these MG kits, please take the time to do it right and ink the panel lines and spray it with flat coat. The only thing that I complain about is the hands on these old-school MGs. They don't hold anything well at all. Besides that a good build altogether.

Neon Genesis Evangelion

My roommate and I just finished Evangelion. Oh boy. I won't give away the ending but it was quite a departure from what the rest of the show entailed. It leaves you with a lot of things to answer for yourself but then again that's what a nicely written dialogue will do. Definately a classic and know I find myself wanting to buy the new remastered box set. Alas...no cash.
